Hello all, Bristol is one of 5 cities where protest will take place next week. NB: On the basis of information available there will be substantial disruption. It is said that action will commence at 10 am with a week long occupation of Bristol Bridge from Monday 15th July. However, it appears in the light of this the council will be formally closing it with the Police before hand. College Green will be a target on Tuesday 16th and again on Friday 19th.  The Ministry of Defence in Stoke Gifford will be a potential target too. Castle Park and College Green may become encampments It should be noted that although there will be the above focus points there will also be other groups taking action elsewhere in the city over the week. Hello all, If you have one of these you will have probably already spotted the warnings and concerns, but just in case the BBC are reporting today: The government is to issue an "unprecedented" recall notice of up to 500,000 Whirlpool tumble dryers which pose a fire safety risk. It comes four years after Whirlpool issued a warning after it found its Hotpoint, Creda and Indesit dryers had a fault which needed fixing. The fault was blamed for at least 750 fires over an 11-year period, according to the government. Whirlpool said safety was its "number one priority". It urged anyone still owning an affected to dryer to contact the company immediately on 0800 151 0905. A spokeswoman added: "In the meantime, anyone with an affected dryer that has not been modified  should unplug it and not use it  until the modification has been completed." An estimated 5.3 million dryers were sold in the UK, but it is thought up to 500,000 could still be in use. ...

Hello all, Avon and Somerset Police have informed us of an ‘organised civil disobedience’ event that may take place today, Thursday 28th March, whereby members of Extinction Rebellion and possibly sympathisers are proposing to set off multiple [fire] alarms.  There is no known information on which buildings/when but the assumption is that they will target schools, institutions and public buildings. The Bristol Director Education and Skills has shared this scant information with Bristol schools and nothing more. We haven't heard that it has been distributed more widely so we do so just in case to our Agreement/SLA customers. Fire doesn't give notice of where and when it will occur so our best advice, unless you have a delay on the system that allows checking the status of the issue before the alarm sounders go live, is to take any activation seriously and evacuate.
