DS Risk Warning Part Bristol Customers: Water supply outage and the hottest day

Hello all,

There are radio announcements on this and the Bristol Water web site says the following:

Area:
No water – Speedwell, Eastville, Fishponds & lower Horfield

Issue: No water

3:00am

Customers within the Speedwell, Eastville, Fishponds & lower Horfield areas may be experiencing no water supply or low water pressure.

We are currently at the scene of the burst and identifying a repair. Thank you for your patience and regular updates will be made available once we can more accurately provide a repair completion time.

5:30am

We have closed Royate Hill, Eastville BS5 to allow us to carry out the repair safely and there is a diversion route in place. We aim to have a further update shortly and would like to thank you for your patience.

The most recent announcement said bottled water will be available from a distribution point to be confirmed shortly.

Ground movement due to the heat has been identified as the issue.

The water issue will impact on both those providing a service at present and those who aren't. Service continuity will be difficult in the circumstances with no indication as to restoration of a viable supply. When it is restored action will be needed in the area indicated to make sure that sophisticated systems are not adversely impacted by the outage and won't restart, go in to alarm mode, etc. Flushing will probably be necessary.

 ***

Forecasters are predicting the hottest day on record today. As we've clarified there's no upper level to curtailing work. It is down to risk assessment and control measures which appear to be needed more often over recent years.

All the best.

Bill

Risk Warning: 3Cs; Police call on public to help tackle terror threat

Hello all, We’re supporting a national campaign launched today (6/3) by Counter Terrorism Policing urging the public to act on their instincts to help tackle the terrorist threat. With the terror threat becoming increasingly complex and varied, we’re joining police forces across the country in calling on communities to act on their instincts to help prevent atrocities taking place in the UK and overseas. The appeal comes as new figures reveal information from the public has assisted counter terrorism police in a third of their most ‘high-risk’ investigations, helping keep communities safe. The UK’s most senior counter terrorism officer, Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, has launched a new Action Counters Terrorism, or ACT, campaign – urging the public to report suspicious activity to the police. Mr Rowley told an audience of community and business representatives in Manchester that information from the public continues to play significant part in recent successes i

DS Risk Warning: Health - Cornavirus/Covid 19

Priority Wed, 26 Feb, 20 Hello all, Looking at how things are progressing and supporting you with your many enquiries can we suggest, if you haven't done so already, a communication to your community and staff? The content would be to reassure that you are following the national and local advice. You could then copy and paste the advice from yesterday that includes the list of Category 1 and Category 2 locations and the list of Italian lock down villages. If you can you can go on to say nobody has returned from lock down areas anywhere in the world. Some have returned from areas where the advice is clear on being vigilant in case symptoms appear. If that were to be the case they will then follow the self isolate advice, etc. it would be sensible to recognise that the situation is very dynamic and could already be changing as you send your communication. You will update them on your position if anything material changes, but they can also keep up to date
