Risk Warning: Malicious emails/copycats

We've spotted this headline emerging this morning relating to problems yesterday:

Schools in lockdown in the north west as police probe ‘malicious emails’

In brief the report says:

Police have launched an investigation after malicious emails were sent to a number of schools in the north-west which forced one of them to go into lockdown.

Chester Constabulary (CC) and Great Manchester Police (GMP) both received reports on Tuesday morning of threats to teachers and pupils sent to schools in Chester, Ellesmere Port and the city of Manchester.

Both forces have now launched an investigation and officers have been visiting schools to provide reassurance.

We thought we'd give you a 'heads up' on it in case of any similar activities in our area by the same perpetrators or copycats.

Our advice is to:

* brief those who may receive such emails

* ensure there is no response to the sender

* let the police know - you will need to make a judgement call on whether it is a 999 call in that a crime, or the potential of one is happening/imminent, or 101/the website reporting form for their information so they can see what's happening

Hello all, The Met Office have just issued the following regarding the next named storm Isha: Amber warning for South West England Wind Between 18:00 (UTC) on Sun 21 Jan 2024 and 09:00 (UTC) on Mon 22 Jan 2024 This covers the following parts of our operational area: Bristol , North Somerset , Somerset , South Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire.
