DS Risk Warning: Weather; Floods

 Hello all

In the light of the YELLOW rain warnings across our operational area the Environment Agency, taking into account current river levels, ground saturation, etc. have issued the Warning Level information below.

Please note 4 areas are identified with supporting maps.

At present this is a 'heads up' and more likely to be an issue around disruption to travel arrangements.

Updates tomorrow may increase the threat level where premises are impacted. The following link helps with what the warnings mean and actions that are necessary.

Flooding is possible - be prepared

Here is the information on the 4 Alert areas:

River levels have fallen in the River Yeo catchment, but the risk of flooding remains. Areas most at risk are locations near the Congresbury Yeo, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around roads at Wrington and Iwood. Heavy rainfall is forecast this evening, 06/12/2023, into tomorrow. This is likely to cause the rivers to rise again in response. The weather remains unsettled with further heavy rain possible over the weekend. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and will issue flood warnings if necessary. Please consider local water levels, weather conditions and your flood plan if you have one. Avoid using low lying footpaths, roads and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. This message will be updated by 3:00 PM on 07/12/2023, or as the situation changes.

Flood alert area: Rivers in North Somerset including Congresbury Yeo, Cheddar Yeo, Axe and tributaries.
